While the stairway to success may be packed and lengthy, some artists use the elevator. Born in the year 2000 in eMandeni, Kwazulu Natal, self-taught multitalented DJ and producer, Nkazimulo Ngema known as TNS showed interest in music from a very young age and would start producing from the age of 10.
Having discovered his passion at such a tender age, he left eMandeni and moved to live with his uncle in KwaMashu, Durban in pursuit of a career in music. His star was slowly rising but it was not until he met Prince Kaybee that his luck would change. Together, in 2017 they released a banger titled ‘Club Controller’, which was quite departed from Prince Kaybee’s aesthetic. The song went on to take over radio airwaves and accolades too.
After the success of their first collaboration, in 2018 they elevated their efforts and released ‘Banomoya’, an instant hit that made the young man a household name. ‘Banomoya’ was one of the biggest songs of 2018 on radio, TV and charts – earning local and international awards for producers. The song featured powerhouse performer and vocalist, Busiswa.
At just 20, TNS had an impressive record of accomplishment with consecutive thumping hits. Those 2 years prepared him for the industry and he felt ready to take on the journey by himself. End of 2018, TNS announced that he would be starting his own record label. True to his words, in the start of 2019 the talent released his first solo single, ‘My Dali’ which features vocal contribution by Indlovukazi. The single was well received and cemented his status as a talented producer.
In a short space of time, TNS has also worked with Afrotainment head honcho, DJ Tira on a song called ‘Amachankura’, which saw the talented young man not only work on production but on the vocals of the song as well. Now working on his project, the star released a follow up single titled ‘Uzongilinga’, which got a lot of traction. This was followed by a number of collaborations including one with Mampitsha on his hit song, ‘Joburg’. At the dawn of 2019, the start released his much anticipated album, King of African House which further cemented his name in the mainstream music industry.
Indeed, it seems though that the young man may have magic fingers that turn every project he works on, into a hit. Surely, South Africans await big things from TNS, well at least that’s the impression they give on the comments on Youtube.
