We all know that Cassper Nyovest has been terrorising the local music industry with his irresistible tunes. Trying to pick up from where he left off, the hip-hop darling has emerged this time probably in the most awaited collaboration with kwaito legend, Doc Shebeleza.
Borrowing some kwaito beats spicing them with a touch of dance-hall, the song kicks off with Doc Shebeleza pulling off his famous laugh intro which is followed by a brief story. If you have listened to the legendary songs, then you should know what he is capable of.
While the beats are on point, one would have expected the hip-hop star to really give the song great attention and maintain the standard he has set with his previous hits. His storyline sounds out of touch and there’s not even one verse that one can say Cassper was truly unleashing. With that said, the chorus on this jam is a guaranteed sing along – something that is likely going to give life to this tune.
But if there’s two things that will save ‘Monate So’ are, Doc Shebeleza’s contribution and the killer chorus. Even though there’s nothing much to take away from this, it is also important to note that this is a party song and as such, Cassper might have wanted to take it easy.
From its smooth, euphoric breakdown to the choir keys, magnetic snare and warm, cosy bassline this track might just end up surprising us.
