Ziza Muftic, a Johannesburg-based jazz singer, composer and pianist with roots in Zagreb, Croatia starts her mini Cape Town tour this week with some of Cape Town jazz musicians. This time around Muftic who is also a fine jazz pianist will only be on vocals.
On Thursday, 27 February she plays the Drawing Room, Station Road in Observatory from 20H00 with pianist Andrew Lilley, bassist Sibusiso Matsimela and drummer Lumanyano Mzi.
On Friday, 28 February she will be at the Jazz in the Native Yards’ and Alliance Franciase’s Jazz Night, on 155 Loop Street from 19H30 featuring pianist Blake Hellaby, Stephen de Souza on bass and drummer Lumanyano Mzi. Saturday, 29 February Muftic will be joined by Andrew Lilley on the piano, bassist Sean Sanby and Roy Davids on drums at the Olympia Bakery in Kalk Bay. She rounds off her tour at Jazz in the Native Yards on Sunday, 1 March at Kwa Sec, Ny 138 no. 52 Gugulethu from 4pm. Blake Hellaby will be on keys, Stephen de Souza on bass and Lumanyano Mzi on drums.
Muftic has performed with some of South Africa’s top Jazz musicians like Sydney Mnisi, Reza Khota, and Marcus Wyatt.
